Program Description
The study of sociology at Rockhurst centers on the understanding that as members of society, we both produce and are in turn shaped by the social and cultural contexts we move through in our daily lives. A sociology minor is a useful complement to a variety of Rockhurst degrees, improving one's professional development by considering diverse perspectives and the changing world around us.Â
What is Sociology?
Sociology is a social science that considers our lives in relation to the times and contexts in which we live. This perspective is useful in making sense of one's own life, as well as the lives of those with differing backgrounds. Sociology helps us think critically about major social issues and their impact, with an emphasis on social justice and working toward equity and equality for all in society.
